Mom--this is my FAVORITE song...

were the words I heard yesterday out running errands (ie shopping)...so I of course turn up the radio and she tries to sing along...which is very cute...and while I don't have video of HER singing I did find the video of her "favorite song"

Then of course a little later we heard another of her "favorite" songs...seriously my kid has fabulous taste in music (and I will take all the credit for that....too bad Carolina Liar won't let me embed their video--so you have to go to youtube to check it out

In 6 weeks....

  • we will go from having 2 girls and 1 boy (thanks loulou for counting that for us) to having 2 girls and 2 boys
  • we will go from NOT having to change diapers to changing about a million a day
  • no more sleeping through the night for Phil and I
  • lots of snuggling
  • lots of crying (man that hormone dump)
  • going from no bag to diaper bag
  • just shopping with one kid to 2
Oh it's gonna get fun...less than 6 weeks to go...

Oh kids--how funny they can be...

So LouLou is ready for this baby (who shall be called Pip). She found her trick or treat baskets today and proceeded to tell me that she would take Baby Pip trick or treating this year. And get lots of candy. And that she would "help" him by eating his. And apparently he costume will be a "scury monser" She also wants to help change his diapers (hmmm..this could be a good thing lol!) and hold him like "dis" (cradles her arms and swings her body around). Every time I go to my doc appointments she asks if I'm bringing him home...9 weeks to go...YAY!!! April 16 woot woot!

Life is busy and sad.

I know it's been forever since I posted. Christmas came and went (mostly went--I had to work) Lou Lou's b-day came and went (same thing--BOO to working). Life keeps chugging a long. I'm working FT for the benefits. Can't beat no deductible and $2k max out of pocket with my insurance picking up 90% of my bill.

Before I go any further let me tell you about my friend Amy. I have known Amy for like 25 years or so (oh my GOSH I'm old!!!) She is quite honestly the BEST person I know. Really she is. She is so smart (like Mensa smart I swear) and she is so spiritual and just so good. I really have no idea why she keeps me around as a friend--the heathen and apostate that I am. She is a Glenn Beck fan but I don't hold it against her. She is just one of those people you WISH you could hate because she is so good (like Molly Mormon only not annoying and suffocating)

On with the story---Amy has been in Utah for about a week and a half--maybe 2 weeks with her baby girl, Rissa. Rissa was at Primary Children's Medical Center (PCMC) where they discovered she had myocarditis caused by some stupid virus. I had been planning to go up and visit and take treats and goodies and cute hospital gowns for Rissa (and some SUPER cute loungey pants for Amy cause honestly--you need cute pants when you are in the hospital for any reason). Then I got a NASTY cold...like NASTY and didn't dare traipse up north. And then Saturday morning I got the saddest news I have ever had about a friend. My Amy lost her little girl Friday night.

Now, being the pregnant person that I am, my sadness is compounded. I called my parents to let them know (again--I've been friends with Amy for forever and her mom still lives 1 street over from my parents) and was bawling--like the bawling with snot gushy and tears and body shaking--it's oh so pretty--not at all like what you see in the movies. Lou Lou woke up in the midst of my meltdown and came and snuggled me on the couch...she just kept saying "isss aight mommy--don't be sad--isss ok" When I calmed down enough to talk, I told her that yes--mommy is sad but I will be ok. She heard me tell my parents that Rissa had died and in the way only a child can say "No mommy--she's not dead--she's jus retending...she wake up soon" Curse my lies as my child watches whatever show she saw where someone died (although it could have been Snow White or even Sleeping Beauty) Oh how my heart ached. How it hurt for my friend and her family. And how tightly I held my own little monster that morning. I found I had a little more patience with her and didn't scold nearly as much.

I finally worked up the nerve to call on Sunday to check on my friend. The first time I lucked out--she was showering. Yay--it gave me more time to find out what to say. The second time--no one answered. Double yay! They were probably at church or something. The third time was not so kind. I managed to hold myself together for like 7 minutes. Which if you know me--that is like a feat worthy of world record status. Then I lost it...And my dear friend was still so composed. So together. Remember how spiritual I said she was?? I wasn't kidding. I told her what Lou Lou said and Amy ever so gently and kindly reminded me that Rissa, is indeed sleeping because we believe that our families ARE forever and Amy will see her again. Oh my wise kind friend. I so want to be like her when I grow up. I know myself--I'd be in the fetal position on the floor in the bathroom for days, weeks, maybe months if I went through what she did.

I know Amy will get around to me someday...when she can. She is busy with her own little corner of the world right now--grieving her daughter and rebuilding her life. And dear Amy--when you find a minute--Please know how much I love you...and know that I think you are AMAZING. And I want to be like you when I grow up. You will always be in my prayers and I'm grateful for our friendship. And I'm hunting down "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" on DVD just for you. Because really--Benjamin IS the hottest. Well--Frank is cute too....

Who knew the weirdness of pregnancy dreams??

And no--I'm not talking the hormonal driven sex dreams....

I confess I am a blog stalker--I occasionally leave comments but it's a rare thing. I'm not as funny as the writers so I just get my giggle on and have a happier day when I stalk. The problem comes in when I check my reader multiple times a day hoping to see posts from my 4 favorites...the Shark lady is usually the best at updating (and at making me laugh)...in so checking I apparently have sub-conciously decided that I'm cool enough to hang out with them...which in real life is NOT the case...but I keep having weird dreams about them--like we all pile into Tiburon's car and go to Lagoon in the middle of the winter to go to Lagoon-a beach....and that I'm DYING to meet Kristina (who I've already met IRL) and OmGirl lives next door to me and we hang out all the time...yes--these are my pregnancy dreams....Not of food or chocolate or even great sex...but of going to Lagoon in the middle of the winter with four strangers....Oh and my mom and sister tag along by I don't want them there and we get into a huge fight and my four new friends abandon me for them...thanks a lot new friends!!! Sheesh--I can't even keep my dream friends apparently....

Maybe I should cut back on the late night food binges......maybe...

Bits and pieces...and peanuts and lines...

Once upon a time I had a nephew who called girls private parts "lines". And another nephew (from the same family none the less) called his a "peanut" (he couldn't say his "s" sounds very well) So I had the "BIG" ultrasound today and was anxiously looking for "bits and pieces" or "lines" or a "peanut". Well folks--we have a peanut/bits and pieces. And he is NOT shy about flashing it around (seriously I have the kids that like to be noticed!) He was shy about showing his face (at least he had the good grace to be embarrassed right???) I know you all want to see pictures (perverts!) so you'll have to check back tomorrow when I get them scanned in.

And of course all the knockdown drag out fights about a girls name are now moot and pointless. Should have just waited.

Lou Lou is upset that it's a baby brother. She honestly cried for almost 20 minutes about it. I called people so we could chuckle (Yes--I'm a mean mommy) hopefully she'll adjust quickly.

What's in a name?

So, ever since I peed on the stick Phil and I have and major discussions (ie knockdown drag out fights) over name discussions. We have had boys names picked for almost 3 years (don't ask why--they just came very easily) and picking LouLou's name was CAKE (seriously it was so easy--it just came to us) Because we don't know what we are having I NEED to have a girls name and a boy's name. I must leave the ultrasound with a name...I can't just call this baby "it" or "he" or "she". It just drives me crazy. So---we FINALLY decided on a girls name today. FINALLY! So now I can settle in and wait for 3 weeks until my U/S and know in my heart that this baby has a name. YAY!! And no--silly people. I'm not gonna share it yet! You'll just have to wait until we know. But it is cute and it's fun to listen to LouLou say it.

Oh and for the record--LouLou "needs" a baby sister. She will not discuss the option of a baby brother. Every girly thing she sees--whether it's a quilt at my favorite fabric store or a crib or baby clothes--she "needs it for my baby sister". She will be VERY disappointed if it's a boy.
